Firefox 4.0 Beta 4

The fourth Beta development milestone of the next major iteration of Firefox is now available for download.
While Mozilla has yet to announce officially the release of Firefox 4.0 Beta 4, fact is that the bits are already live and up for grabs via the browser vendor’s FTP servers.

Early adopters that have so far test driven previous Firefox 4.0 Beta Builds, but also new testers looking to take the next version of Firefox out for a spin will find the download links at the bottom of this article.
Earlier today Pctipsbox readers have been able to read about Mozilla’s focus on pushing the overhaul of Firefox 4.0’s graphical user interface overhaul one step further.

Essentially, the UI redesign of Firefox 4.0 will continue even after Beta 4 to the upcoming testing release.
Even at this point in time early adopters can download and test a preview of Firefox 4.0 Beta 5 that comes with a two tiered Menu.

In contrast, Firefox 4.0 Beta 4 features a single column menu, as did the previous Beta releases of Firefox 3.6’s successor. Expect this detail to change with the upcoming Beta 5 development milestone for Firefox 4.0.
Fact is that for the get go, Mozilla planned to release at least seven Beta Builds for Firefox 4.0. In this context, testers are extremely likely to get Firefox 4.0 Beta 5, 6 and 7 in the coming months.

At the same time, Beta 7 might not be the last Beta of Firefox 4.0, if Mozilla will consider that the next generation of the open source browser still needs to spend some time in the baking oven.

Currently, the browser vendor plans to finalize and release Firefox 4.0 by the end of 2010, although a specific availability deadline has yet to be decided upon.
